“If you’re a first time expectant parent - get in touch with Michelle! Me and my partner attended a birthing support workshop and got a load of hands on tips for help during the labor process. We went into the hospital with a bit more courage to go through the process - and I had a physiological birth, as they say. I had a healthy baby boy without any pain relief. It can be done!!”

  • Katie, first time mom

“Sharing a huge Thank You to Michelle for her advice, encouragement and grounding in these uncertain times as a first time mum to be. So many questions that I couldn't get answers to have been smoothed over in my mind and I now feel empowered to choose my birth path. It's really wonderful to have a person who not only is a mother but also has first hand experience in dealing with pregnancy and everyone's unique experience...”

Your Childbirth Education Teacher

Welcome! I’m Michelle, a birth + postpartum doula, childbirth educator, hypnobirthing teacher, fat liberation activist and the author of Fat Birth. I’ve supported parents all over the world as they journey into new parenthood, both virtually and in-person. I have more than seven years experience supporting families as they birth their babies at home, in the hospital and birth centers. My aim is always to create a safe space where others feel comfortable enough to voice their hopes for birth, as well as any concerns, frustrations and questions without judgment.

Birth isn't something that happens to you-- it's something you're actively involved in

I'm giving you all the information you need to step into your power and take responsibility for your choices.

Your Investment: One payment of $199 (or two payments of $100)

These Class Are For You If…

  • You believe birth has the power to be a transformational experience-- and maybe something you can even enjoy!

  • You don't want to look back at your pregnancy and birth wishing you had known more

  • You’re ready to learn the real statistics about pregnancy and birth with a higher BMI

  • You're new (or new-ish) to the world of body acceptance, body positivity and fat liberation

These Classes Are Not for You If...

  • You think ignorance is bliss and you'd rather not learn about the process of birth

  • You're happy having others make decisions for you

  • You think Instagram and TikTok videos qualify as high quality childbirth education

  • You think plus size people (and their bodies) are weak, risky, a problem or fill in the blank with some other harmful stereotype.

We've just done the labor preparation class and I would highly recommend it for any expectant parents. The class was lovely and relaxed and we both feel much more calm, confident and ready for our new arrival.

FAQs

  • The live classes run every Sunday, starting May 19th for three weeks. Classes are three hours long, from 11 am- 2 pm Central Standard Time (5-8 pm GMT). You are welcome to come in and out of classes at any time and recordings are available for six months following class commencement.

  • Your balance is due one week before class start. You will receive an email request for this payment.

  • These classes are perfect for any stage of pregnancy. I usually recommend you register earlier in pregnancy versus later. The earlier to take a class, the more time you have to prepare and utilize the information provided during class. I’ve also had folks who are trying to conceive attend classes so they can get a head start on this knowledge!

  • Of course you can! I understand some people have older children that they prefer not be on camera. I also know some people are just more comfortable not being visible. I’m super flexible and it’s all good!

  • Anyone who registers for the course has access to the recorded, live content for six months (November 19th, 2024). The pre-recorded video library you have access to forever!

  • This class is packed with information, primarily focused on those who are currently pregnant or trying to conceive. While some of this knowledge may be helpful for you, we do not go into specifics about how you can support clients during pregnancy, birth and beyond. If you’re interested in that information, then I highly recommend you get in touch with me for more information on my birth professional trainings.

  • Yes, you may still find these classes beneficial for you. While we focus on plus size pregnancy (and those deemed as “high BMI”), we also cover many of the foundations of birth preparation that anyone would benefit from: such as advocacy skills, the importance of informed decision making, the stages of labor and so much more.

All class fees are non-refundable but fully transferable.
